Noise and Vibration related studies concerning secondary machinery including engine room ventilation are foreseen.
Important information we need:
- Manufacturer and model including:

- All data available related to engine room ventilation system, manufacturer and model of the fans, position of the fans, louvers and dampers etc.
Topic 5: Finite Element Analysis (F.E.A)

Example of FEA computer simulation model.
Finite Element Analysis is foreseen for the following structures:
- Stern structure
- Engine room foundations
- Engine room bulkheads
- Main bulkheads
- Deck structures
Topic 6: Air conditioning
The following studies are foreseen related to air conditioning:
- Elastic mounting system of the chiller unit
- Position of the FCU in the cabin | room. Design of air inlet and outlet openings for each cabin | room.
- Air speed at air intake grill

Topic 7: Detailed insulation | installation plans
Silent Line will produce detailed insulation | installation plans per cabin or room using AutoCAD version 14.
Drawings will contain:
- Hull structure insulation materials
- Deck structure insulation materials
- Bulkhead structure insulation materials
- Floor details
- Separation wall details
- Connection details | how to install the system | materials

Example of AUTOCAD detail drawing.
Topic 8: Noise prediction by computer simulation
Silent Line is using an in-house developed computer simulation model in order to predict the noise levels per cabin | room during cruising speed and anchor condition. This computer model contains:
- Structural data
- Data related to main and secondary machinery.
- Insulation materials
- Room acoustics

Main sound paths.

Calculated noise levels 1/1 octave band.

Room acoustics.
Topic 9: Cabin-to-Cabin noise (Acoustic privacy)
Silent Line is using an in-house developed computer simulation model in order to predict the Rw (noise reduction) values.
The coupled or decoupled separation walls will be designed in accordance with these calculations.

Main sound paths.
Topic 10: Hydraulic systems
Silent Line will look into the hydraulic system from noise and vibration point of view. This means we will study and recommend piping clamp systems, hydraulic silencers etc. Hydraulic noise can be very annoying during both transit and anchor condition.
Topic 11: Elastic mounting systems
Silent Line will perform studies related to the correct type of elastic mounting system for the main engine, generator sets (double elastic mounted), secondary machinery, exhaust system and more.
