NEW PROJECT | 60 meters Twin Screw Motor Yacht | Refit Project

Scope of work:

This 60-meter luxury motor yacht was launched in 2008 and is now undergoing a major refit to be launched again for charter.

The client requested from Silent Line Engineering Department a full study based on the existing situation with recommendations from Silent Line to make this Yacht as quiet as possible.

For this Silent Line is using our inhouse developed computer software on predicted noise levels in each cabin or room while cruising and at anchor condition.

NOISE TARGETS TO BE ACHIEVED:

COMFORT CLASS LEVELS | DNV | GL

The noise targets are not set yet however we are aiming to achieve the above shown comfort class 1 noise targets as this Yacht is for charter and the nowadays guest require comfort and silence.

The outcome of the prediction is shown below:

Overall predicted noise levels Lp and A corrected noise levels for the human ear. Also, the overall predicted noise level and corresponding noise rating curve (NRC) number.

Pending on the dimensions of the cabin or room, important room acoustic parameters are calculated such as room absorption, reverberation time and critical distance. This is pending on the volume of the cabin or room, carpet present yes or no, sound absorbing ceiling yes or no, number of beds etc.

This is an ongoing project at the moment. The results are presented to the client. The predicted noise levels are not in the range of the DNV comfort class 1 levels. Silent Line will prepare a report on what needs to be done to reduce the existing predicted noise levels. In case the client agrees we will intergrade these updates in our computer simulation model on predicted noise levels and look into the new predicted noise levels until we achieve DNV comfort class 1.
